Wow!! The sandwich here blew my mind.. The Caramelized onions, the garlic sauce.. It was seasoned perfectly. It was one of the Highlights of my trip to key west.. Good options for vegetarians

This place is a hole in the wall with seating outside. We had to circle twice because the banner is now listed as Bien. Ordered the -Scallops in red sauce -Mahi mahi in red sauce -west Caribbean bowl -shrimp in red sauce - fire roasted corn All delicious - I recommend ordering the bowl with a side of scallops in red sauce and corn if you are by yourself and want a good sampling - all delicious Eat there and chill with the roaming roosters Street parking is difficult but there is a municipal parking garage down the block for $2 an hour.

A little gem in Key West. I had the #14 Paseo Greens with Grilled Chicken breast. It's romain lettuce, purple cabbage, pickled beets, cilantro, and vinaigrette. I also had the Fire Roasted Corn. Best corn I ever had. Fresh yellow corn grilled over an open flame, coated with aioli, cilantro, Parmesan cheese, salt, paprika.

Mmm. Great tasting Latin food. Reasonable brakfast/lunch prices all day long. Open 7am-7pm. I'm not sure which country of Latin influence. Food served to-go, but limited outdoor seating is available. I had a burrito wrap with roast pork, rice, beans, jalapeño, cilantro, and a special pickled cabbage. It was perfect. I wish they had fountain drinks. Limited selection of canned soda and bottled juice only.

Paseo in Key West is NOT closed. As published on page one of The Key West Citizen on Thursday Dec. 11, 2014, "It's business as usual at a popular Old Town sandwich shop (Paseo), despite the sudden and mysterious closure of its founding parent company in Seattle."

On a recent trip to the Keys, my friend wouldn't stop talking about this place and their sandwiches. We made it a point to go, and luckily we arrived, just before they closed at 7. It was nothing like I expected. You basically order at the counter and they bring your food wherever you sit. The inside has very limited seating, maybe 6 or 7 stools. There are some tables outside but the misters were kind of intense. We didn't want to mist (rain) on us and our food so we sat inside. We got the Caribbean Roast sandwich and Fire Roasted Corn. That sandwich was definitely one of the best I've ever had. The meat was super tender and juicy. The spices, the sauce, everything about it was amazing. It had jalapenos in it, so it had a nice kick. The corn was, as the name suggests, fire. I've never seen corn like that anywhere. Totally recommend this for a quick bite. It's kind of sad that they're not open late because that sandwich would be the best late night drunk food ever.

Not too many words. .. speechless during the entire meal. Delicious can't even begin to describe. Best thing I ever ate. Order the corn. As a matter of fact, order 2!

Be warned there are no tables. You can sit on the bench out front and eat but that gets messy especially with the sandwiches. Two of our friends had stains on their shorts from the dripping sandwiches. I ordered a steak sandwich and the bf ordered pork platter and the corn on the cob. I was given a pork sandwich by mistake. I didn't realize it until I ate a couple of bites as it was labeled steak. So not only did they give me the wrong sandwich, but they didn't get the corn on the order. That's just as well, as our friends said the corn wasn't worth it. The pork was meh and a little dry. Get the steak sandwich, it was far superior. It's also pretty big for $9. Two people can easily share a sandwich. Since I live in Florida and can get Cuban/Latin food anywhere, I was disappointed I wasted a meal here. It's average food and coupled with the lack of tables and order mix up, I wished we had gone elsewhere.

This is a nice little spot for some Caribbean/Latino style food. We were drawn to this place by all the photos of the roasted corn on their yelp page, and we were not disappointed. The corn is just awesome, with a nice smokey flavor and tasty seasoning. The only other things we tried were the Scallops & Prawns in Red Sauce, but the corn alone is worth stopping in for.

  • Kelly S.

That corn, yikes, just writing the word corn has me thinking about their roasted corn and drooling. My husband and I both got the garlic shrimp sandwich and jeepers was it delicious. We loved every bite here!

You get a lot of food for the price. Quality is good but not excellent. Food containers and everything else is in plastic, not the most environmentally friendly.

There's a few reasons why this place gets two stars in my book... This place isn't Latino influenced.. We ordered the chicken bowl and it was good but mostly rice... The chicken thigh was good size but still mostly it was just tortilla chips and rice and beans. The beans aren't Cuban beans.. They are the sweet kind, the rice wasn't made well. The grilled chicken dish was very dry this is already racking up to $30 for these two dishes.. Then they have no cups for water or no plates! We had to all eat with the lids of the take out box. The mahi mahi fish had NO FLAVOR. The place is to eat outside under the roof and there's just a huge long bench that people can sit but there's only like two small small tables. I was left very disappointed we spent $60 on food for a family of 5. There was no place to park but for 3 cars... If we park nearby we would get towed. This is very very far from Latino food... This place earned these stars because customer service was good. He brought out the food with a smile and the corn was OK. Sigh. I'll stick to Latino food in miami not key west.

The real treat here is the Grilled Corn. It's soaked in Lime, butter, cheese, salt, and cilantro. and maybe a few special spices. I would go here just for that corn, it amazed me. Wowie Zowie! We also split the Caribbean bowl which was also very good and big enough to share. The flavors were wonderful. the chips were just chips. I kind of would of like a little hand made tortilla or a denser hand made chip. This is counter service which makes it easy just to walk in and order what you want even if it is just that spectacular corn. 4.5 stars for me.

Food is good if you are looking for quick grab. Got some Mahi Mahi fish meal which is not bad. Tried roast pork my friend ordered which is good also. Their meal come with big side salad. The grilled corn was the one of the best I ever had. I would definitely go back to try different items on the menu.

  • Kristie D.

Oh my this place makes me wish I lived in the Keys. Just straight up yummy goodness. Try the corn, I made a meal of it and went back the next day for the pork sandwich. Great prices, great food. My only regret is that we didn't discover Paseo sooner, we would've been eating here every day of our stay!

    (5)
  • Paul J.

Well let's see. Everything is to go, or at least that's what they told me - there are no tables to sit and eat at. The left out part of the order. When the best part of the meal is the side salad, you're in trouble. Very greasy and oily food.

    (1)
  • Jonny S.

Tasty spot for some Caribbean food. I had the Caribbean bowl with an extremely tasty thigh of chicken on a bed of black beans and rice along with cheese, jalapenos, and sour cream. Yum. There are no tables, but a bench outside where you can wait for your order and chow down if you can't make it home.

Whatever its merits before -- and I wasn't a fan -- the restaurant closed last week. Take it off the list.

    (1)
  • Mike A.

Very good food, great black beans , awesome roasted corn. Sea scallops were amazing and the mahi mahi was great also. No indoor seating but its key west that's why your here.

This is one of those places that is so good it could be really bad on my wallet. Not because it's expensive but because I imagine I could stumble across these photos and end up taking an impromptu trip to Key West to enjoy it all over again. (If you're hopping in the car with that plan, make sure it's not Monday or Tuesday-- it's closed!). Let's talk corn: Delicious. Amazing. Flavorful. (oh no.. I'm about to start reaching for my car keys...). Order it. It's cheap, you won't regret it. Not spicy at all if you're bringing along someone who isn't a fan of spicy flavors. The Caribbean wrap with pork. For the full description, check out friend and fellow Yelper Cassie G's review. I think she his the nail on the head in this one. There is no seating inside, so this is a great meal to pick up and take back to wherever you're staying. For those of you who can't make the trip without taking a bite, there are a few outdoor tables where you can sit amongst chickens who have good taste! They picked one of the most delicious restaurants to beg people at in all of Key West!

    (5)
  • A P.

The 5 star reviews are correct. This place delivers every time. Black beans and rice will surprise you how good they are! Beans and rice trio is where it's at! Make sure to squeeZe your limes on that corn!

  • Tim A.

Favorite place to visit when I'm in key west. Pulled pork sandwich is crazy good. The corn is so good, I tried to duplicate it at home... But failed. Limited hours is my only negative comment.

    (5)
  • Mariana B.

Love love love this place! I had some kind of spicy fish salad with cuban spices and my boo had the Cuban sandwich. We splitsy'd and could have died happy on the spot with the food in our mouths. Not sure if this place is related to my Seattle favorite with the same name--the girl who rang us up was from Seattle though. Eating space can be tricky. There are just a few tables outside and lots of hungry patrons. We made friends with a nice local couple who enjoyed good food (and Key West) just as much as us. This place won't disappoint.

    (5)
  • Jacob H.

Not only the best sandwich is Key West this is the best sandwich I've had in my LIFE! You have to check this place out.

    (5)
  • Jamie S.

Hmm while the food was good, I thought it was on-par for any good Caribbean Latino type of food...it's just more americanized so that people who aren't as familiar with different cultures and don't speak other languages feel comfortable with what they are eating. We had the fish in red sauce with white rice, scallop sandwich, and fire roasted corn. Both dishes were tasty...and surprisingly the fish had a little kick even though I only opted for 1-star of spicyness. Yes, you can choose the desired level of spicyness for each dish :-). The corn teased the flavor palate and got the creative juices flowing around all the different ways to prepare corn at home, which is a good thing. Overall pretty good experience and with the roosters and chickens walking around freely, I give it 3.5/4-stars. Since it in a Latino Caribbean restaurant, it would be great if the place had more outdoor seating and consistently play island music. Definitely check it out! And remember its only open until 7pm!

  • Jeff D.

Oh my God! Amazing Food! Recommend the #15. Guaranteed you two meals but you still will leave with another side of beans$! Address is the same but name has changed...Do not leave Key West without trying this place if you like Caribbean food!

With all the time I spend down in Key West, how is it possible no one has recommended Paseo yet? Never heard it mentioned and never seen any advertisements... THANK GOODNESS FOR MY KEEN SENSE OF SMELL ! ! ! I happen to frequent Old Town Bakery and there was no reason for me to notice Paseo directly across the street; just an average looking takeout place, retro-fitted into an old gas station. Until one day I arrived at lunchtime and there was this overpowering smell in the air... and it wasn't Old Town Bakery. Like the pied piper leading all those mice... my nose followed that smell right thru the front doors of Paseo. Initially we were just going to grab a menu for a future visit but after seeing customers eating these "not so normal" sandwiches and seasoned corn on the cob on benches out front... we were sold (before even seeing a menu). We checked out the menu and ordered the "Chicken Breast" and the "Sauteed Prawns". All the sandwiches are served on a Baguette (fresh and toasted to perfection) and include "caramelized onions" (huge cuts and superb) and "pickled jalapenos" (no worries, they are delicious and barely hot). The sauces they use such as garlic tapenade and aioli are amazing. Both sandwiches are worth ordering again and since that visit I have tried the "Caribbean Roast" (OMG) and the "Seared Scallops" (OMG 2x). To get this excited over sandwiches means they must be some good sandwiches... Simple concept done right.

Ordered the fish in red sauce, very good. The corn on the cob itself is worth 5 stars.

Very very good!! Hands down the BEST Caribbean food in Key West. Their fire roasted corn is the most delicious I have ever had! The corn comes loaded with a cajun-like seasoning, salt and a mayo like dressing, which spills on the plate holding it, so you can rub your corn in that heavenly plate and devour it all in no time! Also, we got a Spicy fish curry(not sure of the fish) with rice and beans and it was the most authentic Caribbean curry we ever tasted. It was all finger-licking good! Not to miss if you are in Key west, not at all! Just keep in mind that it's a little away from the Duval street (where all the action is) and they close at 7 pm, so make sure to plan for early dinner. also, they were closed on a Saturday, so check the schedules before making the hike. it's not very spacious, but their food quality and quick service more than makes up for it!

New name but same great food. We look forward to coming here multiple times during our trips to the keys. Get a corn for everyone and share a Caribbean bowl and a steak sandwich.

  • Macy M.

Went to many many many restaurants in Key West. This was the best one. I got it twice during my two day stay. The palomilla steak sandwich left me speechless, and in my own world. This review is going to be kept short and simple- STOP BY HERE WHEN YOU GO. Holy crap. AMAZING food. They are closed seasonally though, I just forgot which months. I think its later in the year.

  • Allie W.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat before hitting the water to fish for the day. Staff was kind and greeted me with a smile. Ordered the corn to go along with the pork and rice. Would have liked some kind of sauce on the pork as it was a little dry by itself, but everything else tasted great.

    (4)
  • David H.

After several recommendations we visited Paseo. The sandwiches were tasty and bountiful. Worth the visit. The corn on the cob was not worth the cost. It is possible to put too much seasoning and additions on a food item. That is the case here. We could not begin to determine the flavors on the corn. It was just a gooey mash of seasoning and cheese (we think it was cheese).

    (4)
  • Kameron Q.

Amazing food. The scallop sandwich was great. Tasted even better on Cuban bread. No one in our group was disappointed.

    (5)
  • Bridget C.

Incredible. Choose your level of spice, so fresh, great flavor. Eat outdoors! Scallop sandwich was sensational.

  • Crystal M.

I would give them 20 stars I would. Excellent flavor on all four dishes we had...number 14 is a must.

  • Olivia K.

This place is small and quick, but the food is really good. I cant stop talking about the corn. It's a grilled corn on the cob with what tastes like cojita cheese, cilantro, butter, and Serrano pepper. I've been to places that have made it similar, but here is the best. The grilled chicken is amazing as well. It tastes like the way the Vietnamese pork chops are made, but with chicken. The food was Caribbean/Latin but it tasted like it was infused with Asian. I definitely recommend it if you are in key west.

  • Mike V.

One of the best and best value restaurants in Key West, bar none. The prices are cheap, the portions are huge, and the staff is friendly. A can't miss. I come here every time I'm in town. The fire roasted corn is good, but I have to admit I didn't love it as much as the other reviews. For me, the Paseo Press is the crown jewel. A beast of a sandwich with succulent roast pork, creamy cheese, and crispy bread. Remember not to unwrap! Another gem was the rice and black beans. I was a little afraid that a Cuban fusion place would not make them as good as a more authentic style restaurant, but I was happily wrong. One final note -- this place is small and the locals are testy. Keep a cool head as you get skipped in line or some conch idiot blocks your parking spot with his douchey bike. The food is worth it.

  • Nikhil C.

Best chicken sandwich I've had till date!! And the first prawn one was delectable too! No match for their marinade. It's a takeout place.

    (5)
  • Tim H.

This is a must try in Key West! I had a sliced steak sandwich, and my friend had the Scallop sandwich. Both were HUGE and delicious. Both sandwiches had nice sauces which complimented, but did not overpower, the fillings. You won't be sorry!

    (5)
  • Theresa A.

Great food! The black beans and rice were to die for. My husband had the chicken thigh sandwich it was amazing. Small all outside seating but well worth it. It is a must if you are visiting Key West. We plan on lunch here before heading home.

    (5)
  • Dan S.

By far, the best sand which in town! I have eaten here twice in 2 days and am a raving fan. The Caribbean pork, ham are outstanding. Service is fast but the sandwiches taste like they took all day to prepare. They also serve meals and bowls which looked delicious and plentiful. Very little seating so getting things to go is a good idea. This is a local favorite and a real treat for tourists who take the time to find it. open from 11-7.

    Not so yummy

  • Brian G.

Paseo restaurant is a really good casual spot to grab a delicious sandwich or salad with a Caribbean/Cuban flair. My only issue is they go a little heavy on the dressing. So keep that in mind!! it is located deep in key West's Old town, across from the Old Town Bakery, where you can grab really good coffee and pastries both are winners!!.

    (5)
  • Tj G.

The red sauce.......OMG the red sauce! I ordered it 4 on the spicy scale. It had a very good amount of heat to it. I had the fish platter, it was incredible. I very highly recommend this place to anyone. Other than the food. I found it very neat that you had to put up your own plate. It's a nice touch to the place. I plan on getting one of the sandwiches next time. And there will most defiantly be a next time.

    (5)
  • Azat A.

This place is the best. Had lunch there with 3 friends and we each had different sandwiches and we were all raving how great everything was. I tried the grilled fish sandwich. I asked for it to be very spicy and it was out of this world. Probably one of the top 5 sandwiches I have ever had. We also each had the grilled corn. Must try. So delicious. Never knew I would love corn that much.

When I walked up, there was a typical key west chicken running around the building. Me thinks, why is this particular chicken so riled up and crazy eyed? I soon had my answer--it must have gotten just a tiny peck of the flavorful, authentic, hand made (with love), food they serve at this hidden gem. We started with the pulled pork sandwich with Caribbean jerk mayo, which was intended to be shared with my food and life companion, but instead I unhinged my jaw and devoured the thing in one bite. I didn't feel too bad, as my food and life companion was mauling a Caribbean bowl, said on the menu to be the "second most popular bowl in the Caribbean, mon." It was a masterpiece of white rice, perfectly simmered and spiced black beans, cilantro, sour cream, cheese, jalapeños, chicken, and the most glorious blend of spices I can recall. Let's not forget the Caribbean BBQ'd corn on the cob. Definitely smothered in more good stuff than my simple mind can grasp, but jerk spices and cilantro come to mind. Cheese, also. I wish I had a picture to post, but we consumed the entire meal like savages before the camera shutter could take a single picture. You must see for yourself. The resident crazy chicken saw our ravenous display and crossed to the other side of the road.

It's tragic really that I had almost no free time during my 4 night trip to Key West. I snuck off the last night to pre-eat here. Yes, pre-eat. I got there around 5:30 so it was half full. Ordered corn, a scallop sandwich on Cuban bread (1 on the spicy scale), and a side of the scallops with red sauce (to go). They bring the food out to you and after a brief wait, I was chomping on the roasted corn while watching a mother hen and her chicks pass through. The corn was awesome - the cilantro was a nice add. I was too lazy to squeeze the lime - oops. I was in a rush to join a boat cruise and wished I had more time to linger on the corn. It was big and hot. I ate half of the sandwich because it was pretty filling. Perfectly textured and flavored. The scallops are huge and sliced. I had the other half after the cruise and though it was a little soggy, it was still delicious. The side of scallops/red sauce was huge. It was a bit salty for my taste. I ordered bc of the reviews I read here and wouldn't jump to order it again because I'd rather try other things. Service was super friendly. There's also stuff on the side to easily pack things to go if you can't finish like me!

  • Ashley B.

Amazing! Best breakfast sandwich we've had :) The caramelized onions were delicious! Big enough to share, but tasty enough you don't want to!

    (5)
  • Ani C.

Yes you must get the corn don't even think twice! And order something else because it's delicious and you'll miss out if you're traveling through.

    (5)
  • Eric B.

This place is amazing! I rarely go to the same restaurant twice on a trip, but we made an exception for this place. The meat is succulent & amazing. I love the bread they use for the sandwiches. I rarely get corn on the cob in public due to issues with getting it in your teeth, looking like a mess afterwards, and is not the easiest thing to eat in front of others. I also made the exception twice for this. Do not miss out on this place, I wish I had learned about this place years ago. One of the top if not the best place to eat on the island. Definitely much cheaper than most places in Key West.

    (5)
  • Mike S.

Amazing food and service !!! They made an extra Mahi sandwich after we screwed up and forgot to tell them about the shellfish allergy at order time. No big deal! Awesome service!

    (5)
  • Francis K.

This place is a great little hole in the wall with delicious food. I want to address the people that complain about having to bus your own table and no ice. Get a clue. This is basically a sandwich counter. Do you complain at Subway when you have to throw away your sandwich wrapper? Obviously someone's mom needs to stop picking up after them and teach them how to clean up after themselves. Back to the food. The Caribbean sandwich I got was awesome, I would come back just for that and the grilled corn was full of flavor and must buy. My girlfriend loved her ham and cheese and we plan to go back and try some of the other dishes. This place is busy and they don't have ice, so if you need an "ice" cold drink with your food, ask them to brink it out with the food. I was wondering about that when she asked me if I wanted my drink then or with the food. Top notch! And since I just came here from the food Mecca of New Orleans it is well deserved and would be popular in any city.

    (5)
  • Allison B.

AMAZING!!!! The Caribbean bowl is delicious. Outside seating only....just a small area but worth it to eat here. Reasonable prices, portions are large enough to share. Very fresh. Another must in Key West.

    (5)
  • Aaron E.

Had the fresh mahi mahi sandwich and it was incredible! Best fish sandwiche I've had on the island, also had the fire roasted corn, it was good but not as good as the mahi sandwich. All orders are made to go for a quick take back to the hotel to enjoy next to the pool or you can eat there at one of the outside tables.

    (5)
  • Cat C.

Always fresh, always hot, always served up with a smile. My favorite is the black beans and rice with chicken thigh. Always get an extra thigh, there is plenty of food to split in two. I use half for one meal and I try to save the other half for next day but sometimes unable to make it til next day. The corn is a must!

    (5)
  • Jeff S.

I had been passing by Paseo all week, but never at the right time (open 11-7). I just had a great lunch there...roasted pork sandwich was tasty, as was the roasted corn. My friend got the Caribbean Bowl, which was also excellent (and large). Well worth checking out !!

    (5)
  • Cassie G.

As if leaving Key West wasn't miserable enough, we made Paseo our last meal of the trip and with one bite, I was already dreaming of the day I could come back. I'm far from a corn on the cob enthusiast but their version is definitely one I could crave. I was able to split corn and their Caribbean wrap with my boyfriend and was more than satisfied. It was so flavorful with juicy pork, pickled slaw, rice, beans and condiments lending the perfect amount of spicy kick. We were lucky enough to snag a table right before our food came out but were just as content taking a seat on the bench. Pretty sure this will be a must-do every trip to Key West from now on.

  • R S.

To die for.....the corn...with that dressing and cilantro was HEAven...soft, Juicy and crunchy !!! I also have the Chicken breast sandwich and a friend have the Fish of the day sandwich (mahi-mahi) was so GOOD! Its wrapped well...so when you tear the wrapped paper you tear it like your peeling a banana...how kewl was that IDEA. Very small indoor eat-in counter yet have 3 tables outside with misters. Just smile ..friendly register/order beauty....her eyes are hypnotizing !!!! One have to try this place when in KEY WEST. I never have Caribbean nor Cuban food...I assume Key West is the best place to try it.....but this REd sauce marinate was really GOOD!

  • Tee E.

Five of us went to Paseo around June 14th. Note that there are only 3 tables, all outside, so one person had to wait around for people to finish and grab one while the others ordered. We had Smokin' Thighs, Scallops in Red Sauce over Rice (which is listed as a side dish but was enough for an entree), prawns and of course, the grilled corn. The corn was different, but delicious! The other dishes were filling and very good. I plan to try a sandwich next time. BTW, they don't take Amex. After ordering, a server will bring your food to your table, and you are expected to bring the dishes back inside after eating.

    (4)
  • Lisa P.

Had lunch here today right when they opened. Worth going out of the way for the fire roasted corn. I would give the corn 5 stars. No place to park and only a few seats outside, worked ok for us today but could be very inconvenient. I got the caribbean bowl and enjoyed it very much. I would recommend this if you are flexible on where to eat it.

  • Jay T.

Wow, what a great sandwich. I had the #2 Paseo Press. Also had the corn. Very tasty. Highly recommend.

    (5)
  • Sandy M.

Went in search of a great Cuban, and stopped here. While the sandwich (Paseo press) was good it was certainly not a Cuban. Should have walked a few more blocks to 5 Brothers...... It was a very good sandwich, but not answering my crave. A lost opportunity.

  • Jeff K.

Was in Key West last week and this hidden gem was a stones throw from our hotel. Not ready to venture far this particular afternoon we stopped in for lunch. AMAZING!!! simply the best latin food weve ever had. Ya gotta try the fire roasted aioli corn and roast pork. This will be a stop or two for us every time we go to the keys.

Before you collect ur Food, check ur Food for what u ordered!! U may not Get all of it!! . Once u leave the counter, the lady behind it will not accept.!! We had a very bad experience!!!

  • Tito B.

This place is absolutely ridiculous- in a great way. It's in a tiny building and was one of the tastiest meals I'd had in a while. We had a shrimp sandwich and a fish sandwich, and of course, corn. STILL DREAMING ABOUT THE CORN. All items were delicious. I wish I could have eaten there more than once during my trip, but, alas, there were other places to try. I definitely think this was right on up there with my other favorite place in Key West, Blue Heaven.

    (5)
  • Lauren B.

The food here is AMAZING!!!! Whoever cooks the food does an amazing job. The staff is friendly, they bring your food out to you too. Just such good and well made food. I love it and highly recommend everyone trying it.

    (5)
  • Chad G.

We stopped in for lunch. Oof. That place was swamped. Took us 30-45 minutes to get an order to go. On the flip side, the sandwiches are great, just make sure you aren't in a hurry.

Must have! I live around the corner! Affordable and great food! The chicken Breasts with beans n rice is amazing. My boyfriend is a chef and goes crazy over chicken thigh sandwich! Must have the corn on cob!

Probably the best most unique sandwich and corn I have ever had. Scallop sandwich and roasted corn. No tables, just benches to seat & eat on...but still really good.

Best food in Key West. Not always easy to get good tofu - but they nailed it. The rice and black beans were legit and the corn melts in your mouth. It's a must if your in Key West.

OMG! Awesome food!!! There doesn't appear to be a sign outside so if you don't know about this place (or are told, as we were), it would be very easy to pass it by. But DON'T, or you'll be missing some amazing food. We had the #2 Paseo Press sandwich, a large cup of black beans, and an ear of their grilled corn. Wow! All three items were very unique, and flavorful. We will definitely go back again the next time we are in Key West!

Could be an off day but my Caribbean Roast sandwich was so dry I had a real hard time finishing it. Service was good and I managed to find free parking.

This is the best meal we had in Key West! Our hotel was right around the corner when we visited last summer, but I would walk across town to eat here...and I'm not a "walker". It's unassuming and certainly not a fine dining experience with linen tablecloths and a masterful wine list. However, the food is unmatched. The pork and black beans are so flavorful and juicy! It's unlike any Caribbean food I've ever had. Is it sad that I'm looking forward to a return trip to Key West just to eat here again? Probably...but I'm okay with that.

This place has amazing sandwiches, we came here twice while on vacation in key west and were pleased both times. The scallop sandwich was delicious, you get to choose how spicy you want it: 3/5 is still pretty mild in my opinion. Also had the roasted corn... That is an absolute must try! The sandwich with baguette is a filling meal and sticks with you. The entree bowls are enormous. One down side is that they will not serve you tap water (bottled for purchase only) and do not have ice though the drinks are nicely refrigerated. The restaurant had primarily outdoor seating with only one or two spots to sit inside. The outdoor area is well served by a misting system to keep the heart down, even in February. Wild chickens and a rooster were ready to gobble up any crumbs that happen to drop.

The food was phenomenal! Without a doubt the best food I had while visiting Key West. I had the West Caribbean Bowl and I craved it for the rest of the week. Next time I am definitely going to try the corn!

Paseo is awesome! I got the Paseo Press sandwich and it was fantastic. The sandwiches are huge, enough to make a meal even for someone with a huge appetite like me. My friend got the scallop sandwich and said it was one of the best he'd ever had. My only complaint is that I only got to go there once on my trip. I would definitely recommend Paseo if you're looking for a quick, casual meal. Probably one of the cheapest meals I had in Key West but definitely one of the best.

Wow, just wow! I was looking for some Caribbean food in the Keys and I got what I looking for. I had the fish in red sauce, the spiciness of the fish was dead on, rice was perfect the beans were excellent. That was the best corn on the cob I had ever had, grilled spicy and delicious. For $13 bucks you can't beat it.

Last time we were in Key West, we didn't make reservations in advance. Big Mistake! This time, I made sure we made reservations and just have to say this restaurant is on my top five of all time dining experiences. Every choice we made from the appetizers through the desserts were imaginative and delightfully delicious. Since I am on vacation, I am not taking the time to go into great detail, but I am confident that whatever anyone orders here will be delicious! Just as important, the service at Pisces is PERFECT! I could go on and on about the impeccable attention to detail in every aspect of service, but for those who know, just please trust me.

Air conditioning/adequate shade would have made this experience perfect. Corn was divine as was the sandwich. This is a walk up counter turning out delicious Latin fare in an old refurbished gas station. Bit of a hike from Duval and parking isn't great. There is a parking garage nearby, though. The sandwiches we got were excellent, but HUGE. Probably a good idea to split especially if you (not if....when), get the corn. Meat was tender juicy Latin goodness. The famous corn, is a fire roasted corn on the cob rubbed with garlic aioli, Parmesan cheese, paprika, and cilantro. It. Is. Awesome. Can't make enough recommendations for the corn. Great little place in Key West!

Delicious! We've been to Key West many times and passed this unassuming place more times than I can count. I'm so glad we finally stopped! We had the most amazing lunch! I got the scallop sandwich (scallops were sparse but delicious) with mild heat on the cilantro sauce. I coulda kicked it up another notch or two. But it was great. My husband also let me try his pork sandwich which was out of this world! The bread is fantastic and the sauce and veggies inside are just prefect. It's messy though, make sure you keep that sandwich wrapped up while eating it! Oh and we did get the corn- of course it was phenomenal. Not much seating but worth waiting or taking to go. The sandwiches are huge-we definitely could have split one. Go there!

I would say this was the one of the best meals the entire time we were in Florida and we went to several other highly rated & expensive spots in the Keys and elsewhere. The atmosphere is casual with several tables outside and a few inside. It's counter service but they do bring the food out to your table. The options are simple and fresh and it seems difficult to go wrong. We ordered a chicken dish and the tofu with red sauce. The red sauce is amazing. The tofu dish is probably the best preparation of tofu I've ever had. We also got the fire roasted corn, which is essentially Elote. Everything was great. Food came out quickly and as fresh as can be. I can't wait to go back.

The Corn!!!!! We have attempted to duplicate the corn recipe for weeks now that we left Key West. Get the corn!

  • Susan H.

Crave! Twice this week I've had the greens with fish on top plus a side of rice and fish with red sauce. Each time I had more than enough left for another meal the next day. BUT, at midnight, the rice and fish call to me from the fridge and it's so HARD to resist. Go there. Now.

Paseo is now Bien. The food is delicious. I got nervous. I called as last week it was paseo and today it is Bien. The gentleman said they are the same owner they just changed the name!

  • J W.

Awesome food and service! I believe this used to be called "Paseo" before they did a little revamping and changed their seating to all outdoor seating. They have added continuous mist sprays with their fans outside like those at a theme park/zoo to help try and cool down their customers. Their sandwiches are very flavorful and massive and their Elote corn is a must try item! Now, almost all of their main dishes replicate after the same foundation base of jasmine white rice (which is cooked my favorite way (with oil, salt and garlic), an ample size of a side salad that looked to be good (did not get to try ours because we took our food to go and unfortunately our salads got messed up along the way), black beans that are seasoned very well and cooked perfectly in both the beans and bean to liquid ratio, and a tomato - cilantro based sauce that all their proteins are cooked with. The difference factor is that you choose your heat/spice level you want which is from 1-5. I like spicy food but I get a 1 in the heat department as seafood is pretty delicate and I want more of the seafood flavor than anything else, but these guys do an amazing job in cooking that I'm sure it's more flavor than just heat as well for the higher heat ratings. Scallops were delicious and tender, shrimp and mahi mahi were oh so fresh, and the chicken thigh dinner was flavorful and plentiful. The guy who took our order was prompt and very nice, and I loved that they remembered to throw in forks and spoon packages as we asked for our food to go. There has been too many times where I have been left with no utensils after leaving a place to realize the individual packaging the to-go order did not throw those in the bag. Prices are great for the region you are in and the food reminds me very much of a home cooked meal. I would go back again without a doubt! :-)

Swung by this place on our way back to our condo after a fishing trip and had a fantastic lunch here. I had the "Seared Scallops" sandwich and the other 3 ordered "The Press" sandwich. Also got the 2 for $7 Fire Roasted Corn because, well, read the description and you will also feel obligated to try it. I was sort of put off by how much our order rang up to (this isn't a sit down restaurant, and the majority of patrons were walking up or riding bikes and taking it to go), but once we got our food, it all made sense. This isn't your run-of-the-mill food stand, people. These are gourmet sandwiches made with quality ingredients that take your mouth on a magic carpet ride of flavors. And if you aren't Africa hungry, half the sandwich is enough to fill your belly, and you can get another meal out of the other half later. Especially if you pair it with the corn, which you will obviously do. Sidebar: My mom was a little nervous about finding my stepdad something he would like here, as he is a "fickle f%&#" when it comes to trying different, non-dollar menu foods. He absolutely loved it, and continued to talk about his sandwich for days on end. MUY bien.

  • Laura W.

Really delish. I had roast corn and the Carribean Bowl. So good. Some things to know--they used to be called Paseo, they don't serve beer or wine, and they close at 7 pm. Seating can be tight.

  • Nicole H.

This is a really good spot for lunch. The sandwiches are under 10 dollars and they will fill you up. We ordered the pulled pork #1 and steak sandwich #3 and they were both really good. The sauce and the cilantro worked really well together. Also the jalapeño gave it an extra kick and flavor. I was looking forward to the corn that everyone has been talking about but I was a little disappointed. It was a little undercooked but the flavors were there. Maybe I'm just extra picky with corn since it's one of my favorites things.

1st step: higher your expectations 2nd step: enjoy. This place had one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I found this gem (even though it was only 3 blocks from the place I was staying) the 2nd to last day in Key West. So, naturally, I went twice. Had to bring one to the airport! All sandwiches are on a lightly toasted baguette slathered with ailoi (garlic mayo), fresh cilantro, pickled jalapenos, crisp romaine & caramelized onions. I got the #2 (Paseo Press - $10.50) - succulent morsels of roasted pork nestled apot banana peppers draped with sheer slices of smoked ham, swiss cheese, caramelized onions all melted together between a hot press (no lettuce). and the #4 (Palomilla Steak - $9.75, plus .75 for cheese) - thin slices of marinated grade A top sirloin beef quickly seared on a flat top. I feel like the #2 was a staple, but the #4 was my favorite. I don't enjoy steak on a regular basis, but my friend got this, I had a bite, and knew that's what I wanted the next day. It was AMAZING!!!!!! The place is small, as you can't eat inside, and you order and either take it to go, or sit outside at their out door space. I'd recommend eating it right away as it's best hot and ready. I wish I found this place earlier in the week because I would have liked to try to Onion sandwiches. Also, the corn, got it, it was YUM YUM.

See that damn near 5 star rating .. yea its that way for a reason. This is a no frills no bullshit place. I was expecting Cuban food at first - but then came to realize the infusion of other south american flavors were becoming more pronounced as I continued onward in my culinary experience. Everything .. everything ... everything was so insanely tastey I'm still mindblown a week later. The price is a pittance. I felt like I should have been paying twice as much for the food I got. This place is a ni ce 10-20 minute walk off Duval depending where you are coming from, and is a nice break from the chaos that is downtown Key West. There is not indoor seating, so be prepared to sit outside. You'll have to hone in you snipping skills to ensure you get a seat in the shade (no worries there's misters off the ceiling to keep you moist). You MUST try to the carmalized onion sandwhich but get it jordan style - i.e. add Palimilo. So much noms! There sammies have all sorts of amazing aolis and are adjusted to spice level you are craving. The cojote (corn) was off the hook. I get pretty legit/autherntic stuff up here - but this place - OMFG - killed it. This place is an absolute must if you come to Key West and I plan to revisit every time I travel back here. Please don't tell too many tourists about this place. Great secret !

This place is amazing and affordable, portions are very generous and the atmosphere is great! Recognized throughout the critic community as a great place for a taste of Caribbean!

  • Tarresha P.

This was hands-down one of the best meals I had in Key West! We ordered the Caribbean Bowl, Caribbean Roast, & Corn (~$35 total). I would probably skip the roast and go for the bowl -- it comes with a 1 chicken thigh (generous portion), salsa, rice, beans, jalapenos, and is topped with shredded cheese. The pork is also a healthy portion of pork, rice, and a side of beans but wasn't nearly as flavorful as the bowl. The corn is also a must-try. I believed it's grilled and then slathered with mayo, paprika, cilantro, and cheese. While this is more of a grab and go spot, there were a few benches outside where you can seat and eat which were pretty comfortable. *Note: All the signage we saw called out the name "Bien" ... not sure if they've undergone a name change but figured I'd call that out because we were royally confused trying to find this place.

Absolutely fabulous! The corn is superb! Came here on a recent trip to Florida. Went from Ft Lauderdale all the way down to the Keys. Out of all those cities, in 5 whole days... THIS was my most favorite meal. I could go on and on but just go!!!! I will definitely be back next time I'm in the keys. Seating is limited so plan ahead. I had corn and the prawns over rice... 10 stars for sure!

Perfect bread and just the right amount of spice. We had the ham and cheese on Cuban bread and the bowl. The chicken was amazing! We're going back before we leave. A must go.

  • Marc W.

We did not try any other Cuban sandwiches on the island, so can't compare this place to others on the island, but the Cuban sandwich we ordered here was tasty - chunks of shredded pork, grilled onions and lettuce. I'd give that sandwich a 4 out of 5. (Had a Cuban sandwich in New York City that blew-me-away!! So that is my "5" rating!) Should note that the Cuban sandwich here is NOT toasted in a plancha (sandwich press). But I wonder, is that requirement to be considered an authentic Cuban sandwich? Regardless, I would recommend a stop here if you are looking for good Cuban food.

the entrance to the order and pickup is a bit disappointing in the beginning as I assumed it would be a restaurant... and they do nit have alcohol... but once I got the food.... Just wonderful. I had the Caribbean roast dinner and asked for some extra jalapeno hit sauce... The food is awesome - real cuban

Still delicious but it's called bien now, not Paseo. Roast pork is hard to beat! We always hit this place up when we're in town.

  • Annette M.

Oh this place is a must stop anytime we are in Key West. Best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Nothing fancy here and the seating is extremely limited so plan to order "to go" and then go sit by the water and have a picnic with a six pack of beer you bought elsewhere. Must try: the grilled corn.... And buy one for everybody because no one will want to share. Paseo press rocks and is large enough to share. Don't forget to grab a fist full of napkins.... You will need them!

The only must go lunch spot on Key West. We're from Seattle were the only two other locations existed. The bother of the owner of this location ran into some legal trouble and they were both sold to a new owner minus his sauces / marinade recipes. Prior to the sale the Seattle locations had a cult like following and had been named as the #1 sandwich (slow roasted pork) in the entire US. Needles to say we had very high hopes of this location. I ordered the slow roasted pork, she got the scallop sandwich, and we each got an ear of corn. We sat outside (it appears they added some tables) and we had the best meal either of us had had in a long time. The sandwiches were better than the original Seattle equivalents in almost all ways: the pork / scallops were perfect, the onions were nice and caramelized, the sauces were a bit spicier and the corn with all the spices was the best I've had. The only part that could be improved is the bread. The bread in Seattle was a bit more rustic and wasn't quite as spongy. If you go to Key West this (and Blue Heaven) are must go places for food.

My first time I came here was about one year ago and I never even heard of it before that. I was out riding bikes and it smelled like someone was doing some good cooking but then realized it was this place Paseo. I had a Sautéed Prawn sandwich and I was like YUMMMMM ! I wrote a 5 star review based on that first visit and have been back many times and ever brought friends here too but i haven't returned since summer. If I remember correctly the place closed for a month to make interior changes around August and I haven't been back since then. Last week I finally came back. The inside was different but the smell was the same. I was so excited to order. Every time we come here Glenn tries something different but I love my Sautéed Prawn sandwich and of course I ordered it again. And for the first time I also tried one of those smothered corn of the cobs that every says are so good. We get our food and head over to the park to eat. The sauce bread and onions smelled so good and my first taste was so delicious but I noticed it didn't have any prawn in my bite. Now let me tell you this, in the past it had BIG prawns and it was in every bite. I pulled the bread apart to find these little teeny tiny shrimp. Maybe I'm wrong but when I hear prawn I usually picture big shrimp but I tell you these were a joke. I hope Glenn has a picture to post of my sandwich and you will see how small the prawns are. Also the sandwich used to be much bigger. Definitely not worth the 10 dollars I paid. As for the smothered corn, it was amazing and I even gave a bite to my dog. Im so sad that one of my favorite places is not as good as it was in the past.

We were actually driving through the lanes of KW downtown and crossed this place. The aroma was so tantalizing that we had to take a u-turn and come back to this place. And thank God we did!! 5 stars for the awesome food quality and taste. We ordered a Chicken Caribbean bowl and it was as fresh as it could be. The quantity was good enough for two not-dying-of-hunger stomachs. Seating can be an issue for some. They have a few benches and a couple of high table sets outside, which is the only option they have. For a Nice sunny day, i did not mind sitting outside, With some beautiful birds accompanying me. A happy experience!!

Splendid food and so accommodating with my no cilantro request. Everything that I've eaten from Bien (Paseo) is amazing. The generous M-F 10am-7pm day means that you can go to work, order Paseo for lunch or sweat your pretty self silly at Bikram and chow on a post-workout sammy for dinner. Either way, it's a win-win. I've had the steak sandwich with signature grilled onions, the tofu sandwich and fish sandwich. If you're feeling like going for the gold, don't skimp on your beans. They're quite the treat! I'm not sure why the title page for Yelp states that this restaurant is closed. It's quite the opposite. Be sure to try the roasted corn on the cob, which disguises well as breakfast for the next day.

Driving by, I saw the breakfast sign and the outdoor seating. If you're following my reviews you will always see me looking for a place where I can take Jane my 15-year-old chow mix. Phillis and I stop for breakfast this morning. A somewhat limited breakfast menu but I tried their Caribbean sandwich which had two Fried eggs, over medium, hashbrowns peppers and onions, and sausage. You can have a choice of pork sausage chicken shrimp or vegetable. I had water to drink, again limited menu. Phillis had the same thing I did without the bread and she substituted shrimp. And the food was surprisingly good I could only eat a third of my sandwich so I will have plenty of leftovers for two more meals.

First off can someone PLEASE update the business hours?! This place is open from 7a-7p Wednesday thru Sunday. Good service - the young lady at the front counter was very polite and made sure we had what we needed. The outside seating area isn't huge but the morning breeze made for a pleasant outdoor breakfast. I ordered a Cuban coffee (no leche bc I brought my almond milk) and a Cuban sandwich with egg and white American cheese. The sandwiches are huge so you can eat 1/2 and save the rest for later (which I did not do haha). I can eat my weight in Cuban bread and of course with the Cuban coffee a little bit goes a looong way (take that Starbucks). Both were simply but perfectly prepared - delicioso! Hubby ordered a sandwich special that included pan fried eggs (a bit over easy), hash browns, jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, sour cream, caramelized onions and steak. Needless to say he only finished half of his sandwich. He topped off breakfast with a pineapple jarrito and we were good to go. My only regret was that we did not get to try any of their awesome lunch menu items - definitely stop by this spot if you're in the area.

This isnt operated by Cubans. No plantain or yucca either. If you purchase food they will not give you a cup with iced tap water only purchased bottle. So thats one of those brilliant marketing strategies whereby the operator thinks they will make $1 and in fact loses my business forever. Not impressed. We tried the corn on the cob. Looked great but taste was just okay. $4 for one cob.

Hands down best food in Key West. Well that's a stretch, because nearly every place in KW is amazing. They have to be. We've been going here for 3 years in a row multiple times a week when we visit. I'm kinda surprised more locals haven't checked it out (Our charter captain had never heard of it). We brought 8 sandwiches on our fishing trip and gave two to our captain. He loved it. Two days later, we saw him at the restaurant when we made another trip. The steak sandwich has my pick for the best thing to ever enter my mouth. Grilled onions, butter lettuce, cilantro, grilled skirt steak on grilled cuban bread with some amazing mayo. Pair that with their version of elote and you've got the greatest lunch on the island. Don't pick the onions off your sandwich, I'll find you and do bad things to you. They used to be called Paseo's, but now known as Bien. Don't worry, the menu is the same. You really can't go wrong with anything here.

Breakfast sandwich with sausage was aaaamazing. Hash browns on it, jalapeños, grilled onions, sour cream, yolky egg, so many flavors combined to such great flavor. Sausage wasn't a patty, it was round pieces like you find in sauce-awesome. It was really big, shared and ate half and was still fully satisfied (I mean, now I want my own :P). -1 star for no iced coffee (we made this our last stop on our drive to FTL airport, I wanted one last Cuban cafe con leche but not iced in August was not happening. He said "we don't have ice" maybe this was a one off, idk it was too early to seek clarification). Also they didn't take Amex - first place on the island I've found, which is odd for a vacation destination. Still recommend for the breakfast sandwich, next time we'll try more!!

The best meal we had in KW, including some higher end spots. Just big sloppy bowls of slow cooked, quality, non-pretentious food. The Keys need more places like this, less that cater to the deep fried, 2 for 1 drink crowd. Bare bones stuff, just order at a metal counter and have a seat outside at one of the 3 or 4 tables. Served on Chinese china (a joke, perhaps) and silverware is grab your own. They do have misters on to keep it cool, so even on a hot day wasn't bad out there. Had the #2 sandwich and #12 bowl. The sandwich was plenty for even a big hungry boy like me who had spent the morning snorkeling, but that didn't stop me from helping out with the bowl too. Washed down with a Iron Beer. Also had to enlist the local chickens to finish it off which, by the way, seemed more aggressive than other spots so keep a close eye on those bowls!

Absolutely delicious food. Incredible flavor that really brought me back to my stay on the island of Jamaica. The Caribbean bowl had the most wonderful chicken in it! I had a burrito with really moist and perfectly spiced chicken. But the corn. Oh man that roasted corn. Be prepared to get messy, and just dig in with your teeth. That was like candy deliciousness. I could eat 5 of those!! You will not be able to sit - no tables. It is a walk-up kind of place. There is a bench for waiting for your order, but be prepared to take your food to go, head to the beach or the boardwalk, and enjoy your food with a view instead :)

This was one of our stops for an early casual dinner before going to watch the sunset. They close early so we were some of the last customers, but it was one of the best meals I have had. We ordered the corn and the seafood in red sauce and a pork sandwich. The seafood in red sauce (we chose prawns) was a life changing meal. It was so insanely delicious with a hint of curry infusing the Caribbean tomato sauce. A must visit place - we went back the next day at lunch.

Food is phenomenal. The mahi mahi sandwich was divine, and anything with scallops is tasty. We came a little earlier around 6pm on a Sunday and it was nice and quiet. Seating is a little iffy, wouldn't bring a large group here but great for a date!

Great spot that many miss out on unless they know someone. Their hours will get you though. I think they are open Wednesday - Sunday /7AM to 7PM. They used to have a small place to sit inside but got rid of it. They have seating outside but have some serious mist sprays going so you will forget how hot it is in Key West. If you're not used to Caribbean or Latino food don't worry, just ask them for suggestions. They won't steer you wrong. My favorite off the menu is the West Caribbean Roll. Big portion so have an appetite or just save it for later. Try out their plates also. Make sure you get about 3 Jarritos...maybe 4 because you will want to drink the first one right away. Pineapple is my favorite. If you're ever in Key West, stop by here. They are right down the street from the Albury Court Hotel.

I went to Bein Caribbean Latino for an early dinner while visiting Key West, FL. The restaurant is geared more towards takeout but there are a few benches outside. I dined outside since a few benches were available (outside seating filled up very fast). I ordered a Palomilla Steak sandwich (thin slices of marinated grade a top sirloin beef) with extra cheese, onions, and sauce. I had grilled corn with my meal as well. My entire meal was delicious! Bein Caribbean Latino steak sandwich ranks in the top 5 of my "best sandwiches I've ever eaten list". Everything on the sandwich was cooked well and very flavorful. I was smiling after one bite into the sandwich. The grilled corned was amazing as well. I never had grilled corn so tasty. The flavors from Bein Caribbean Latino corn makes your taste buds jump. The service was fast and friendly. I was very impressed with food at Bein Caribbean Latino. This was the best restaurant I ate at in Key West, FL. Bein Caribbean Latino is a great choice for quick sandwiches & grilled corn. Please open a Bein Caribbean Latino in Richmond, VA!

THE PRESS. Second best sandwich I've ever had (#1 is still Tommy Dinic's in Philadelphia). Get The Press and the roasted corn and your life will immediately improve.

One of the messiest sandwiches I've ever had, but I swear it was worth every extra lick of the fingers, every quick move over the table to avoid dripping on my shorts, and every extra napkin i crumpled up and threw by my side. The pork sandwich with the aioli was amazing. Although I wish there hadn't been so much of the aioli on the sandwich, nothing can change that this sandwich is unstoppable. The subtle hint of spice from the jalapeño, coupled with the fresh baguette was awesome! We also had the "famous" corn and damn was it good! Definitely will be back next time we are in key west. **only request I would like to make is that the sandwich be served in a basket or on a tray... Wrapping the piping hot sandwich right away just makes the bread soggy, and could be enjoyed a ton more if served open and allowed to cool a bit. Either way, for taste this is a solid 5 star place.

Truly, one of the best restaurants in Key West, if not, my favorite. It's just good food, plain and simple. Food has flavor, but nothing too overpowering. I'm a local and love this restaurant and would gladly eat here every week! Grilled corn is delicious. We ordered the Caribbean chicken bowl, which was enough to feed my husband and me. The chicken was so tender and juicy and the rice and beans were perfectly seasoned. There was love in each bite! We went back again and ordered the pork plate. I wish I knew the actual name for it. It came with a marinated beet salad, black beans and rice. It was soooo good. I love, love, love Paseo. It is the best!

this was probably the best food ive had in awhile. i was looking around while i was in key west and some people referred me Paseo,. and it was delicious. You have to get the fire roasted corn really good but they entrees are even better and well priced for key west. The one thing i didnt like was the hours, but that is no reason they deserve nothing lower than a 5 star. I wish they had one in norfolk.

  • Mihir M.

The food was incredibly good. My wife & I split 2 corns with everything on them, the Tofu Delight & the Onion Obsession - all were very good & filling. It was very busy at lunch so we waited about 20 minutes, but it was worth the wait. This rating is for the food. There is no nice seating - just on the bench area outside the restaurant.

  • Tonya M.

Don't miss this little gem! The roast pork meal was amazing! Portions are large and my husband and I shared a diner plate. The crowds don't lie and the wait was about 30 minutes for a to go order but so with it!

  • Maggie R.

Paseo was AMAZING. The Paseo Press was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! It was huge so I only ate half, definitely could have split it. My boyfriend had the smoked chicken thighs which were also amazing. I highly recommend getting the fire roasted corn as well, very good. This place is kind of a hike off of Duval, but it is a MUST when in Key West.

  • Amy M.

Just delicious! Had the Caribbean Roast sandwich & the gal behind the counter suggested the baguette. She didn't steer me wrong. The roasted corn is an absolute must have. Seating is limited but that's a great chance to meet others.

I've eaten at the Paseo's in Seattle many times and always loved it so I was super excited to discover a Paseo's in Key West while on vacation. Ordered the scallop sandwich, which was dressed w/ a spicy mayo and lettuce, which complimented the scallops well. The sandwich tasted good, but my only suggestion would be give more scallops, even if Paseos had to charge more. The sandwich had a single thin layer of scallops, that wasn't quite enough given the thickness of the bread and lettuce. Still enjoyed it though.

No 4 star or less reviews? There's a reason. IT'S THAT GOOD. Selective omnivore/ vegetarians still have options! Want grilled corn kissed by angels and mirages of god while shoving a sandwich into your face?! Get your ass here.

Wow. Amazing amount & quality of food at this place! I got the seared scallop sandwich, & you can't ask for a better product for under $9!

  • Geoff C.

Best meal I had in Key West hands down and the cheapest too! The corn is awesome, the #2 and #8 were both amazing me and my girlfriend disagree as to which is better but they both rock. Beans and rice were also good but I will dream about the sandwiches and corn until I come back

We were very excited after reading all the wonderful reviews but could not wait to get to paseo. We were there for lunch on the 2nd day of our trip. There salad was fresh and rice and beans tasted good. Meat, fish and scallops were a different story. Pork was hard, chewy/overdone. Scallop dish had 1little scallop in it. Fish was also very small in amount, overdone again. The curry used for fish and scallops were the one and the same and were definitely not freshly made. Totally overpriced restaurant and not worth the money we paid. Much better, freshly prepared, spicy and tastier food available in Garbo's grill and other more reasonably priced restaurant and food trucks in Key West. We had plenty of Caribbean food in many different restaurants all over USA and I will place this restaurant very much on the bottom of that list.

Wow! Came here for lunch on a Wednesday after reading so many good reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor. Even with the hyped expectations, I was pleasantly surprised! (I'm getting hungry as I think about the food while writing this review.) We had the pork sandwich, scallop sandwich, and roasted corn. OMG! The flavor of the meat in the sandwiches was absolutely delicious, and I especially loved the grilled onions. Everything tasted fresh. The roasted corn was so good that my mom even wanted to know how they prepared it so that she could try it herself. Another nice touch is that when you eat in the outside area, they have fans blowing cool-mist water on you. (Much appreciated on a hot afternoon!) Excellent prices to top it off! An enthusiastic 5 stars!

  • Riya B.

Don't go by the less than ordinary looks of the place, paseo is a hidden gem! All the food we ordered (fish in red sauce, fish sandwich, scallops sandwich, corn) were very flavorful. The seafood was so fresh, you just felt they melted in your mouth. Would highly recommend that you visit this place!

We came here on a rainy day. But still the line was there. Not too long and the service was fast and great. They were very friendly. As everybody said, we tried the corn and it was yummy. My kids loved the chicken (they normally won't eat too much meat) and rice dish. The pork dish was also great. beans were yummy too. They only have a small seating right out of the front door, so take out might be a better option, but we were lucky and had a seating for 5.

Amazing sandwiches and snacks. Try the Paseo Press and the roasted corn! They may have only been open for a few months, but I think they're here for the long haul.

Another great find in key west. Order at the counter and then eat outside in the beautiful weather. My husband had the Paseo Press and said it was so good, that he said he would go back tomorrow again and have it. He also had the corn on the cob and said it was awesome. I had the Paseo greens with added spicy shrimp and scallops. It has pickeled beets and very thinly shredded red cabbage. In addition to this is a dollop of sauteed garlic that just makes the dish! I added on a small side of "critically" acclaimed black beans and they were pretty darn good. I would definatly say you have to go here for lunch at least once while in kw and get your fill of cuban food!

  • Nadia T.

Great food at a great price!! The sandwiches are big enough to share! Be sure to try the fire roasted corn....absolutely amazing!!!!

  • Tom t.

Bike Man loves this place, the prawn sandwich "HOT" is all I order! I haven't even tried anything else, I'm stuck in a rut! It is that good. Ya better like onions and these sandwiches are messy, in a good way.

  • Charles Z.

Outstanding food and tremendous value. Several blocks from the action on Duval, and well worth the detour, but they close at 7:00 p.m., so don't go late. Smokin' chicken thigh sandwich was amazing. And "side" of scallops over rice w red sauce would be dinner most nights. Very generous portions. Limited seating. I will go early and often.

    (5)
  • Ronnie F.

Very disappointing. My red fish was so salty that it was barely edible. My husband's chicken dish was much better, although he says that the sauce on the beans was also very salty.

    (2)
  • Emily H.

I'll add to the raves here and say that it was one of the best restaurants we ate at during our week long stay. Unique fare, inexpensive, and so delicious. I had scallops with red sauce and it was outstanding. I only gave it four stars because they didn't have ginger beer - how do you have Caribbean food with no ginger beer? But otherwise, it was great!

    (4)

Great place! We had the fire roasted corn, fish in red sauce, and the chicken sandwich. So good-my fav meal in KW!

OH MYGOD! I cannot believe this place exist in key west! We are originally from Seattle. THIS SAME RESTAURANT IN SEATTLE WILL GET LINES AND LINES OF PEOPLE THAT WRAP AROUND THE BLOCK TO BUY FOOD AND SOMETIMES THEY WILL HAVE TO CLOSE EARLY BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF FOOD TO SERVE. and just our luck THE SAME RESTAURANT EXIST IN KEY WEST and the owner of this was an ex-partner of the one in Seattle. EXACT SAME GREAT MENU AND AWESOME FOOD WAS CARRIED OVER... OH GOD SOOOO GOOD! TRY THE CUBAN ROAST AND THE CHICKEN THE Best! Zagat gave it a score of 28 (totally agree) and featured in food network!

  • Jessie P.

Always been a fan since I moved here and they had a different name. The food is over the top amazing, comforting, and delicious! Finally tried the new breakfast menu and the HUGE sandwich is full of goodness it should be called the breakfast kitchen sink. Great spot for locals and tourist must go find it!

  • Julia B.

Pedaled past this off-the-beaten-path gem and stopped to read the menu. The people eating outside cheerfully shouted "you gotta eat here, it is SO GOOD!" We came back the next day and we were very glad we did. My husband had the pork shoulder sandwich, which was gigantic and perfect. I had the pork shoulder entree, complete with the to-die-for black beans and rice. Beans were bursting with flavor, unlike most black beans. The salad on the side was a surprise treat too....unique combo of yummy greens that really went nicely with the meal. Portions are huge! Had to take some home, which made for good snacking later. We also ordered a side of the prawns in red sauce. I wanted to take a bucket of that red sauce home. Also had a side of the grilled corn, slathered in creamy sauce and cilantro, so yummy. They are even BYOB...you can't go wrong. Only bummer was the fact that they are not open Monday or Tuesday, so we only got a chance to go once. We will definitely be back on our next visit. Great for lunch or an early dinner.

    (5)
  • Tom M.

After reading all the reviews, I was suspicious. More than one person saying it was the best sandwich they ever had just seemed unbelievable. I figured that the owners had friends write some great reviews to draw in the tourist business. But, I thought I would give it a try. I liked the little cuban restaurant that had been there before. My girlfriend and I tried it this week and we each got the Paseo Press sandwich. We agree; It is the best sandwich I ever had! Don't miss this place. They could certainly use a little more seating. They only have three tables, but it is well worth the inconvenience.

  • Cathy W.

We tried Paseo based on a recommendation by a friend. I wish we had eaten here earlier in our trip so I could have come back a few more times. The flavors at Paseo are amazing. Fresh, hot, delicious food. Tried the scallop sandwich and was blown away with every bite. The staff was friendly, and the prices are great! I will be back on our next visit!

  • Veronique K.

From service to food this place is the best lunch I've had in Key West. Get away from the touristy fish sandwiches and get one with some flavor here! The biggest treat for me was the grilled corn covered in spices and cilantro- amazing!

  • Sarah M.

Amazing food! Discovered this place from a recommendation from someone else staying at our hotel. We ended up going multiple times the week we were in town and the others staying at our hotel went almost every day. The breakfast sandwiches were the best I've EVER had. The pressed sandwich was also amazing. Their grilled onions are beyond delicious. I also had the burrito type sandwich which was good but so filling. Seating is outside with the mist sprayers. Breakfast ends at 11.

  • Annette U.

I was so happy we finally got to eat here after walking by so many times. It is only open until from 11-7 and it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays for which I subtracted one star since we could only eat here once. We shared a plate of slow cooked pork, black beans, rice and salad and we each got an ear of their grilled corn. There was plenty to share on the plate and the flavors were really delicious and unique. It felt like you were eating someone's home cooked food. It was not greasy and just really hit the spot. I will actually try making grilled corn the way they did next time I get the chance. Absolutely loved the salad. Make sure you visit here - real home cooked food - yummy!

My husband and I just happened to park nearby or we would've never stopped by. I was foolishly looking for a sit down, wait-on-me meal.....well, I'm here to tell you that this is one of the best treasures we have uncovered in The Keys. I had chicken and rice and my hubby had pork and rice...his came with carmelized onions, both included pickled cabbage which I sadly gave to my husband and then tried some and instantly regretted my snobbish reluctance to try them first. I certainly would've eaten them as I ate every drop of my meal. Both dishes were phenomenal! We tried the fire roasted corn also....nothing I've ever had before. Enough food to satisfy us for lunch AND dinner. Only $22-ish for two meals, corn, & also included 2 soda pops = extraordinarily reasonable. The server was out of this world helpful and friendly....quick service helped us keep our adventure reservation. Fantastico! Bien!!!

    (5)
  • Chip C.

This place is now called "bien" which means "good" in french. That name doesn't do this walkup establishment justice! Located in what looks like an old gas station, the kitchen turns out sandwiches, etc. to lots of eager diners. We had a mahi sandwich and a scallop sandwich (really, I'd never heard of it either) and one of their grilled corn on the cob. The sandwiches are spiced with habanero oil, so be careful how spicy you choose (scale of 1-5, 5 will be quite a sweat-producer). The sandwiches were probably the best thing we ate during our week-long stay in Key West. The corn, on the other hand, was a little much, and we didn't finish it. That doesn't overly detract from the experience, though. I imagine you could bring your own beer if you wanted, as KW is pretty laid back about it. Make sure you check this place out for lunch, or a small-ish less expensive dinner.

  • Matthew P.

Hit this place up. You will not be sorry. Make sure to get the corn. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

  • Joy L.

Awesome place and cheap! We ordered the grilled corn, side of fish with red sauce (which is really a meal) for $7.00, roast pork sandwich and prawn sandwich, $8.95 each, and they're huge! Will come here again anytime!

    (5)
  • Ralph C.

Stopped their last Friday! It across from the Old Town Bakery. The best sandwich I have ever had!!!!!!

    (5)
  • Nancy H.

Thanks, Yelp, for getting us to Paseo! I had the fish-of-the-day sandwich and R had the roast pork sandwich. We shared an ear of the roasted corn. My sammy was messy deliciousness. The fish was cooked perfectly, still moist and tender. I asked for it 3/5 spicy and that was hot enough for me. Any more would have been unpleasant. YMMV. R's pork was great and the grilled onions ( huge chunks) were so flavourful. The drawback was that his bread was impenetrable, which was odd because mine was tender and tangy. The corn is, as others have said, a revelation. Grilled then slathered with mayo and chipotle adobo and generously sprinkled with parmesan and cilantro, it was a flavour bomb.

    (4)
  • Katie W.

Boy am I glad we stopped here. We came because we wanted to try something somewhat unique, and the fire roasted corn fit the bill. We split the Smokin Thighs sandwich, corn, and rice. They gave us a second piece of corn for free because they thought that the first was too small, so my boyfriend and I each got our own piece. It had a unique flavor, but I wasn't obsessed over it. The five stars is for the sandwich. OMG. Such good flavor. Seriously. I want to go back right now.

  • Jessica R.

Oddly enough, this casual counter served the best meal (and probably the least inexpensive) I've had anywhere in the keys. I had been craving a decent salad, but at most places in the keys, that consists of an oily Cesar or iceburg lettuce with ranch dressing, which I won't even bother with. My salad was fresh, with a homemade vinaigrette and succulent scallops in a spicy garlic cilantro sauce. My husband was practically in love with his sandwich, but he part with it long enough to give me a few bites, which were fantastic. The place is very casual: you order at the counter and hope for one of the three tables outside or opt for the long bench.

Best restaurant I have been to so far...went for lunch...awesum corn ...fish and chicken both were great ...this was the best Caribbean food or any other food for that matter I have had ...good quantity good hard working staff...th could improve on seatings specially during summer which is most of the time :-) but then the food is fentadelicious :-)

Don't come on your last day because you will want to come back!! Fast, friendly, efficient service AND the food is awesome for a casual spot!!

  • Janie L.

Omg! We received a recommendation to go here from our Danger Charters tour guide. She was right on! My friend and I both opted for an amazing Caribbean bowl, and split an ear of corn that everyone is raving about. The bowl was humongous, and easily the best thing that I have shoveled down in my week of vacationing. AMAZiNG! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!

    (5)
  • Adrian G.

Cons: not exactly the most charming place, the corn was bizarre and fairly gross, they have no ice(seriously?), place is very cramped with only three tables which are located outside only, and finally you have to bus your own table. Pro: roasted pork was very good but a tad over seasoned. The jasmine rice with black beans is different(in a good way). And their seafood sandwiches are good. These ppl need to realize that there is more to a restaurant than just good food and prices.

    (3)
  • Brian S.

Fair warning - the portion sizes at this delicious restaurant will feed two normal adults or one hungry teenager. Love #13, the Caribbean Bowl. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

  • Sam M.

We've been on this island a week, and this was some of the best food we've had so far. The Chicken Thigh Sandwich and the Caribbean roast pork are AMAZING. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable experience. The roasted corn is mind blowing, immeasurably better than mexican corn elote. This food will put a smile on your face

    (5)
  • Nancy H.

This little place has a great vibe and even better food. We met wonderful people among our fellow diners and thus got to know about most of the menu items from people enjoying their food. Each and every item was delicious and beautifully prepared from obviously fresh ingredients. Nothing was overwrought. Flavors were clean and well-balanced. There was nothing gloppy. Portions are very generous so go hungry or share (or go for a late lunch and plan to skip dinner). Excellent value!

  • Nicole R.

Insane! This place is so amazingly delicious. Hands down THE best corn I have ever ever ever had.

    (5)
  • Dennis M.

I got the #2 Caribbean sandwich it was a killer. Of course the corn was on point (just check everyone's photos). My lady got the shrimp with rice (medium heat, if you don't want it crazy spicy). It's got a lot of charm and again it's not some BS off of Duval.

    (4)
  • Todd B.

Tried Paseo based on Yelp reviews. I had the shrimp plate, while my wife had the tofu sandwich. We also each ordered an ear of fire roasted corn. All the food was amazingly delicious, so much so that we returned for dinner the following night. There are a few seats inside and tables outside with water misting on hot days and nights. The only thing missing was some nice cold beer or cocktail to go with the spicy yum. Note: You can ask for the corn without aioli, if you like.

    (5)
  • Huma W.

Worst service ever!!!! The lady behind the counter was very disrespectful and cursed!!! Watch wat u get, we were short on 2 shrimp entrees... We went to ask the lady and she gets mad and says I gotta check the cameras.. There's goes good customer relations! We spent $150 on food, why would we lie about $15 entree, really??!! Then comes out and says "get ur shit out and get outta here".. First we are missing our food then we are told we spent too much time (which was 30 mins from getting the menu and giving the order and getting our food) We were a party of 13, waiting for food and eating! There was no sign that said there was an eating limit!!!! The food wasn't the best and worth with all the hassle we went through with our kids!

It's our first visit to the Key's. Staying in Key Largo, and decided no trip here would be complete without making the 90 mile trek to Key West. Upon Googl'ing places to eat, we came across Paseo and read some reviews, all of which were good so we decided this was the place, and headed out. So how was it? Excellent. The sassy waitress covered in tattoos took our order with just a touch of attitude (which we appreciated LOL) and made some wise suggestions for us in the process. I ordered the #2 Bowl: A Cuban dish with jasmine rice, beans, cheese, cilantro, covered by a perfectly grilled (de-boned) jerk style chicken breast that melted in my mouth. Accompanied by some crisp corn chips, it made for a GIANT portion of food, in fact far more than most people would eat by themselves and even I ended up throwing out a large portion of it in spite of my giant sized appetite (and stomach LOL). My wife had the pork sandwich on the baguette, and believe me: You should follow their recommendation to keep it wrapped up as you eat it... its giant, juicy, delicious with savory pork, grilled onions, Cuban spread (creamy mayonnaise-like sauce with spice and tang), and it was very good too. And if you pull it out of the wrapper to eat, it will end up in a pile on the table, albeit a tasty pile! :-) Now to the most unique part of the meal: The grilled corn! The corn is something everyone comments on, and we now understand why. It was deliciously done, soft and sweet, and covered with an interesting blend of spices and cheese sprinkles. All in all, an interesting and yummy combo of flavors. I have no idea how "authentic" this place may or may not be (as I'm no authority on Cuban food), but I don't even care. It was all excellent, and worth the 180 mile drive. Top it off with a guard-cock walking around and 8 seats for 30 people looking for somewhere to sit, and you have what I would classify as one of my favorite places to eat. And I've eaten a lot :-) When we return to this region, we will definitely come back. And for anyone gluten-free, you are covered too. The Cuban food bowls are all OK. Oh, and afterward, make sure you go grab a cold-one at the nearby Green Parrot, find the "Mile marker 0" at the head of Highway 1, then head down to the Southernmost Point on the continental USA to get a photo by the bell.

We attempted to go to Paseo on Sunday; but, it was closed and not opening again till Wednesday. When we finally went on Wednesday it was worth the wait! The roasted corn is one of the best things I have ever eaten, and I don't even really like corn. We shared the Paseo Press sandwich and it was amazing. The flavors, of the rost pork, ham, onions and banana peppers are great together... So good I am going back tomorrow! The staff was super friendly too! The only downside is limited seating, but that goes for most places in key west with good food.

    (5)
  • Alan M.

For a place reported as "closed" per Yelpers this place serves up a mean sandwich for lunch. My wife and son have awarded the scallop sandwich as the best sandwich they've ever eaten. My pulled pork was excellent. Definitely a must try when in Key West.

    (5)
  • Ashley N.

AMAZING! The place doesn't look all that great or fancy (they have picnic tables outside), but wow is the food great! Over the course of a week long trip to Key West I think we ate here four times it's that good. And it's such a good bargain compared to most of the restaurants in Key West. The corn is the best!! Last time I was in Key West I stopped in Paseo just for corn! Also, I like to get a side of rice and mix it in with the toppings that fell off the corn. Fish sandwich is amazing, and so is the Paseo press! Delicious! They also have a small parking lot for customers, which makes it easy since parking in Key West is notoriously hard to find and expensive. Can't wait to go back!

Best sandwiches on key west. The place is simple, friendly, reasonably priced and high quality-- and consistent, too.

EVERYBODY should eat here. Simply dynamite food. I got the chicken thigh entree- first off portion was fantastic. Thigh was so juicy and richly flavored. Came with perfect rice and the tastiest bean stew and fresh salad.

I see why this place has such EXCELLENT reviews! After a long drive in the rain from Miami, hubby and I were just looking for good food and we came across this spot on yelp. Wow...the food was great! I would highly recommend the pork shoulder entree and the corn on the cob. We'll be going back to try the seafood.

WOW WOW WOW WOW. If you come to Key West, you MUST GO TO THIS PLACE!!!! Their two specialties are the Grilled Pork sandwich and the Paseo Press (which is pork with banana peppers, swiss cheese, smoked ham, and onions). I do not understand how a place can get pork to taste sooooo freaking good. The sandwiches are huge, too! I saved half my sandwich and ate it the next morning for breakfast/hangover food and it was still ridiculously tasty and the PERFECT morning hangover food!!! Absolutely fantastic. Don't even get me started about the fireroasted corn. I still dream about it.

Whoa...this place rocks! Ah-mazing corn on the cob. Try the fish sandwich, with garlic tapenade...super yum. Anything here is fantastic- you can't go wrong.

This "hole in the wall" restaurant drew me in with the amazing smells as I was trying to walk back to my room. I ordered the Caribbean Roast and was not only surprised by the amazing taste but the size as well. Wish I had found this place sooner!

I have been here several times. I have oly ordered their Carribean Pork sandwich. It is the best pork sandwich I have ever had in my life, and possibly one of the best sandwiches ever. Love this place.

If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, Paseo's corn is at the top of my list. Simply a must! Great service, amazing food and so worth the wait, I can't wait to go back to Key West to have this again!

I do not understand any Yelper, or any person on the face of this planet, really, that would give this place less than 5 stars. Even vegans and vegetarians may suddenly find their resolve slipping once they see the succulent, tender, juicy sandwiches that come from this place. The go-to is the grilled pork sandwich. The meat. Oh. the meat. I dream of the meat. I think, hey maybe I should go to Key West EVERY WEEKEND just so I can have another one of those ridiculously amazing sandwiches. In fact, my mouth is watering right now. I simply cannot put into words how amazing the sandwiches are. You'll just have to go to Key West and try them for yourself. I suggest you bring a backpack and order 5 extra to go, because you will want them. I was kicking myself on the entire drive back to Tampa, that I did not have the foresight to take a few of those babies home with me. And the fire-roasted corn. Just look at those posted pictures. LOOK. They taste even better than they look.....

Great Caribbean restaurant. Excellent food and easy to access. We arrived here during Xmas week for lunch when they opened. We got the Paseo Press sandwiches and were amazed!! One of the best sandwiches we've ever had. We ate outdoors with chickens running around. Unfortunately sodas come in a can...no refills. Not much table space. Locals eat here. Better than most restaurants throughout KW. The corn was really good too. Order at the counter and they bring it out to your table.

The only thing wrong wit hthis place is that it's closed on Monday and Tuesday. Otherwise I would have had everything on the menu. Thank you for existing!

We ate here twice for lunch, and we will be back. The pork sandwich and the scallop sandwich were both amazing. Food is awesome!

I had one of their AMAZING red corn at the outdoor bench seating. Then i carried a fish place to my hotel on my rented scooter. I was so happily surprised that the fish plate (mahi-mahi) was even MORE flavorful than the red corn. Outstanding mix of flavors. It cost me $20 for the corn & fish plate but VERY well worth it. This meal would hold its own against any "high end fish market" that would likely charge double that price.

The wife and I visited Key West for the very first time in October 2011.... only hours after our wedding for a 5 day honeymoon. Somehow, Paseo was not on my list of places to visit on our first trip. Fast forward to October 2012 and Paseo was at the top of my list of places to try with their unblemished 5 star rating. Paseo is the real deal Holyfield. Two words..... Caribean Roast, aka #2. I'm a stickler for awesome roast pork, and there is no better place to order it in the states than South Florida. Anytime I visit my brother in Ft. Lauderdale we always make sure to hit up one of my favorite hole in the wall Cuban restaurants for their succulent roast pork. Paseo is right up there, if not better, than any pork dish I have had in Miami. The tender morsels of perfectly marinated pork is the highlight of the Carribean Roast. If the juicy and succulent pork wasn't enough, it is mixed with delicious jalapenos and carmelized onions and then they slather a delicious garlic aioli on a perfectly fresh baked baguette. This is the sandwich of all sandwiches. To round out the perfect lunch (or dinner) meal, order a side of their fire roasted corn. It is corn on the cob with butter, grated cheese, cliantro, and lime. Quick Tip: Paseo is only open Wednesday through Sunday, so keep that in mind before you make the trek off Duval. A place that serves food this good needs to be open 7 days a week IMO...... but then again, a place this good can be open whenever the heck they want. The GOOD: Caribean Roast, Local's Atmosphere, Fire Roasted Corn, Service The MEH: Beverage selection The BAD: Not nearly enough seating

For many years my husband has had to go to Key West for business and I tag along when I can. Our favorite restaurant was Hogfish Bar and Grill (Killer Hogfish Sandwich) on Stock Island...until today!!! Paseo is wonderful!!! I had the #2 Caribbean Roast Pork and my husband had the #8 Paseo Press, we both had the corn and shared the beans and rice. I loved my sandwich but his was far better!!! I usually don't like banana peppers but they really worked on his sandwich!!! And the corn...words cannot describe how incredible it is!!! So going to try to duplicate it when I get home. I am also not a big corn fan...but this takes fire roasted corn to a whole different level! And they have Parking...only a few spots but that is a huge plus! Wonderful staff also! Can't wait to come back and eat here again!

  • B S.

If you are in Key West, you must make it a priority to eat here. It's worth the wait. I'm still thinking of the prawn sandwich I had and my husband raved over the #18. The corn is a popular choice and while I thought the flavors were spot on, the corn itself had pretty wimpy kernels - hopefully just a seasonal thing.

I was out on a stroll of old key west and I walked past this little place. I could smell the aroma of all the different ingredients. I had the grilled pork sandwich and I was in heaven. very tender and so much flavor. they were very friendly and had great customer service. we did not get to try the grilled corn they were sold out so I subtracted a star for that. can't wait to go back again.

GREAT PRICE! This food was great, I stopped in for lunch and got the scallop sandwich and roasted corn. All I can say is WOW!!! Def stop by this place. Yes, I agree with the other posts, this place does need more out door seating.

I read the reviews on here and decided to check out this place. It simple, delicious, and worth checking out! Highly recommend it. We ordered the black beans and rice, corn on the cob, chicken sandwich, and scallop sandwich (5 on spice level). I will definitely return!

  • Matt V.

what a gem! This place was phenomenal! THe twice cooked thigh plate was so good, as was the fire roasted corn. The girl helping us out too was awesome! I can't think of a better place to go.

We were very tired of the typical bar scene in Key West. Paseo was the highlight of my trip to Key West. We got the roasted pork entree and the prawns. The accompanying salad was fresh and light, beans were not overdone and the roasted pork was tender, moist and great Caribbean flavor marinated in. The prawns were well done and tomato based sauce was spicy and tasty. However, the grilled corn was so-so, since other reviews spoke highly of it. But the favors on the corn were buttery and tasted too rich. Overall, 5 stars for the roasted pork alone.

This is close to my house & I'm so glad! Great food; my 2 year old daughter loves eating here, too! Best black beans on the island!

  • Ash W.

We had the catch-of-the-day sandwich and another sandwich made with prawns. Unbelievably fresh and delicious. I think the rooster wanted to fight us for a bite, but we were mowing these down too quickly for him to get a chance. Friendly staff, sunny picnic tables, aforementioned rooster busboy keeping the ground clean and even Jarritos! Of everything we ate in Key West, Paseo is what we'll book another vacation to eat again.

I rarely give 5-star reviews, but I think Paseo deserves one! My boyfriend and I spent a few days in Key West, and he really wanted to take me to an authentic Cuban sandwich restaurant for lunch. We went to Paseo and there was limited seating, but we found a few seats at the bar inside. The foot was amazing and very reasonably priced. We each ordered a Cuban sandwich and their roasted corn. While the corn had a little too much aioli, it was still delicious. The sandwiches are HUGE and we probably could have split them! We will definitely come back to Paseo the next time we venture out to Key West from Portland, OR.

  • Beth B.

Amazing hidden gem in Key West! Probably some of the best sandwiches you will find on the island. Fresh ingredients, large portions - love the Paseo Press. Don't pass this unassuming little nugget up! Sit outdoors and soak up the sun while you dine!

    (5)
  • Angela S.

We had to sample the fire roasted corn - it was AMAZING!!! Also the sandwiches were the absolute best ever! Can't recommend this place highly enough... if you're in Key West, stop paying for overpriced, touristy food on Duval Street and make your way to Eaton Street for a great sandwich. We sat outside - loved it!! Note, there's not a lot of seating but it's worth the wait!!

  • rachel l.

The pulled pork sandwich was one of the best sandwiches we've had in our lives. (Not kidding!) Don't miss this sandwich when you visit Key West!

    (5)
  • Taylor S.

Five stars for the scallop sandwich! This small joint gives you lots of food for the price. They have a large menu that ranges from a couple different types of burritos, to a wide variety of Caribbean style sandwiches and platters. This place is as good as it gets for freshness, flavor, and price.

Popped in here while on a walking tour of Key West. My stomach was growling, and a roasted pork sandwich sounded great. What I got was beyond great - it was outstanding! The sandwich, while pricey (around $11 with a soda), was easily big enough for two. But it was so good that I just stuffed myself instead! The pork was great, and the roasted onion and aioli(?) were great compliments. The bread was fresh. One negative was the lack of seating (only 3 tables and a long bench), but since I was by myself I didn't mind. And in true Key West fashion, I had multiple people ask if I'd like to sit at their table. I have a few more days in town, and I WILL be going back here.

  • Corinne U.

This place is AMAZING! We got there around 6 and were able to order immediately - I had read in previous reviews that there is often a line. My friend and I shared the number two (a slow roasted pork shoulder with caramelized onions) and the Caribbean bowl. We couldn't decide what was more delicious!! We also got the fire roasted corn. It was ok... Maybe we didn't think it was that great because everything else was so amazing. Price wise- right on! Sat outside and shared a table with another group- only downside of this place is the limited outside seating. Parking is also at a premium and if you don't know what you are looking for - you will drive right by.... However it is so worth it!!!!!

  • Brooke B.

The best sandwich I ever had was in Italy.... The number 2 (on the menu) was the best sandwich I have had in the states! Crispy baguette (even after 20 min of driving) slathered in yummy sauce with glassy sweet onions and pork to die for!! Go. Now. Add corn....

  • Sharon C.

Fabulous roasted corn and the grilled chicken bowl was excellent! Best food so far. Co owner was there and very involved. Local relaxed place. Worth the trip and a nice place to go to on the way to a schooner cruise very nearby

  • Ace C.

Oh man, I was in town for 6 days a few months ago and came here 3 times. When I came back to town this time, the first thing I did was go here again. The food is AWESOME. Get the Caribbean bowl and some fire roasted corn. It will be enough for two people in most cases. If you think you'll want a little extra (only do this if two people are sharing), get some pulled pork on the side. The corn is probably the best part, but all of it is sooo good.

  • Wen Z.

Corn is supper yummy!!! Sandwich is unique.

  • Sonya B.

This place literally has secret sauces. Their fresh and very delicious Caribbean styled dishes keep me returning for more--the West Caribbean Bowl is a fav. Order take-away or dine picnic style in the front of this little pearl-of-a-find.

  • Gerald M.

Surprisingly Amazing! Don't be fooled by what may appear to be "just a sandwich." These are gourmet magic tricks. This simple place as it appears from the outside packs a foodies' delightful punch! Hands down the best place to eat eclectic food in Key West for a very reasonable price. We had the Paseo Prawns and the Prawn sandwich and wow! We'd definitely come back!

  • Jaime G.

The shrimp in red sauce with rice was delicious, the flavor a truly stood out. The paseo press is quite possibly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had.

  • Shawna R.

The Paseo Press was delish and the portions are huge! My friend ordered a Caribbean wrap and raved about it the entire trip. It's off the beaten path and definitely worth a stop.

  • C A.

Finally got around to trying the corn and it really is yummy. Also finally tried a sandwich other than the fish and so glad I did. The Paseo press is so good it's silly. Consistent quality food at reasonable prices. I think I'll recommend this one to triple D.

Thank you, fellow Yelpers! This was our first stop after checking in at our hotel. My husband's sandwich was fantastic and my scallops and red sauce were amazing. We both loved the corn on the cob, but do wish it had been served hotter. Our hotel concierge had not heard of this place yet but I made sure to let several of them know that they were missing the boat if they didn't start recommending this awesome little place.

A very casual place with good sandwiches. There is only seating outside and it is limited. The sandwiches are quite big, big enough to share, depending on your eating habits of course.

    Bangin. Corn was sick.

As others have already said...WOW...totally worth the trip. Pork sandwich so tend and delicious...and the corn was everything I hoped from the photos! Yum

  • David R.

Excellent sandwiches at this place -- we just happened to drive by and see the misters cooling off the diners at lunch time, so we dropped by. Glad we did! The sandwiches are huge and delicious, I would say two normal appetites can easily split one sandwich and the fantastic corn on the cob. I had the pork sandwich, just perfect. And do not miss the corn! Not much space to sit when we were there, that was the only downside, but once a few people left we were in business.

  • Scott S.

Didn't know about this place when I got to Key West. It was around the corner from the house we stayed so I checked it out for lunch the first day. I didn't eat lunch anywhere else the remainder of the trip. You might think that's short sighted until you eat the corn, indulge in the selection of sandwiches and interact with the friendly staff! This place is a homerun. I will never go to Key West and not visit for another experience.

the Caribbean roast sandwich was the bomb...the rice and beans AWESOME!!!

  • Andrea M.

People are going to disagree, which is fine, but I thought this place was a bit over-rated. I think the food was good, but not what I want when I want actual cuban food. My cuban sandwich was way to saturated in aioli to even enjoy it

Great atmosphere. The western Caribbean roll was just so tasty and # 5 was incredible. Love it.

This is a restaurant that is a must on anybody's trip Key West. We pulled up to what used to be a gas station that was converted into this very small restaurant with seating outside. You go up and order from the counter and then take your food to one of the three outside tables. We were fortunate enough to share a table with a gentleman from North Carolina that had also come here because of the great reviews on Yelp. My wife and I each ordered their famous grilled corn, covered in parmesan cheese along with many other spices. We both could have eaten a second ear or more if the sandwiches were so good. We only spilt the special of the day, marinated rib eye steak sandwich with caramelized onions. This was our favorite lunch places. Don't miss this treat even if you have to walk from Duval Street.

  • Kim G.

I wish I had eaten slower to savor but it was just too amazing. I had the Cuban pork sandwich and corn. I died and went to heaven. Will be going back tonight. I also had rice and beans and not that they were not good but didn't blow my mind.

    (5)
  • James O.

Inexpensive and a quick break from the hustle of Duval Street, excellent food, fun and upbeat staff. Gotta try the corn-on-the-cob! Ignore the chinese plates the food is served on. The best meal I had in the Keys.

  • Bess S.

Pure heaven on a bun. Our group arrived to no wait at 11:45. By 12:09 they were 15 people deep. #2 & #3 amazing. Great ham & cheese as well. a few had scallop sandwiches. All 5 of us agreed great lunch with 5 corns coming in under $60. Can't beat that in key west. Pop in can was ice cold and only $1.25.

    (5)
  • Vinyasa G.

Delicious! after two very high priced disappointing meals. (if you have seen my other reviews) this one was the best. I got the ham and cheese sandwich and it was incredible. my friends got the Jerk chicken and loved it. we all ageed this was the best place on the island. I normally don't give 5 stars but compared to everything else in key west it was fantastic and didn't spend more than $10

    (5)
  • Jesshay G.

Tons of great food for the money. 1/2 chicken was great but the roasted corn stole the show.

  • Abby M.

After reading such great reviews of Paseo's, we stopped in during our September trip to Key West. WOW! What a great place!! The food was incredible....hands down the best meal we had while on the trip. We both got the pork sandwich and the pork was cooked perfectly and the onions melted in your mouth. We also got the corn on the cob b/c we had heard such great things about it. It was INCREDIBLE. It will definitely make you never want to have "naked" corn again. This place is definitely a great addition to Key West. We will be back again and again!

    (5)
  • Bob M.

Man let me tell you the sandwiches are fat and juicy. They are so juicy the juice just drip down your arm when you eat it, I had the Paseo Press, which was absolutely full of juicy, tender pork and that bread was just toasted to perfection and did I mentioned the grilled corn, makes you want to jump up and slap somebody. Now the one negative, seating. You have to wait for a table or worse sit in the hot sun, which is not to bad if you burn easily. I think next time we will just order to go, which I suggest if you are wanting comfortable seating. All in all Paseo was great, also you may want to bring a few beers as they don't serve any cervesa there!

    (5)
  • Ken B.

Off the hook for lunch! Glad we made the stop and will be on the agenda for the next visit. I had the shrimp sandwich and my wife had the fresh fish sandwich with the roasted corn. Awesome and well worth the stop.

  • David R.

Head's up... they close at 7pm! We didn't realize they closed early and got there at 7:30pm. Manager was there so we asked him to recommend another restaurant nearby and he said he would be glad to make us anything on the menu even though we had just closed. Absolutely fantastic. As others said, the roasted corn was superb, a must have. Had the Caribbean bowl, which had wonderful flavors across the board. Walk a few blocks off Duval to have a meal here for sure.

  • Connie S.

We have a large family and everyone was extremely satisfied. And yes, the fire roasted corn was amazing. I want two next time. Service was prompt. It was all fresh and you can't beat fresh. We will be back.

  • Mummy D.

We stumbled across this place by accident. WOW! They served up the best sandwich that I have ever tasted. I had the ham and cheese sandwich with caramelized onions on a toasted baguette. Simply amazing. The street corn was delicious. We came here for lunch two days in a row during our vacation, worth the little walk from Duvall St. for sure.

    (5)
  • Dana T.

Like everyone else mentions, the food is amazing! But, there are some things about this place that surprised us, so hopefully this will help you plan. This is an order-at-the-counter-and-wait kind of place. And there is very little seating both inside and out. If we had to do it again, we would ride our bikes there, get the order to go and head somewhere else to eat. Also, portion sizes are huge; my husband and I should have shared one of the delicious West Caribbean Bowls, instead of getting two. All in all, it is definitely worth the trip, as the food was great.

    (4)
  • Kyle T.

Outstanding. When I discovered this place (well, I didn't so much discover it as go at the urging of a buddy) I ended up eating here three times that week. And they're not even open all 7 days of the week :) Make sure to go, and don't forget to add corn.

    (5)

    (5)
  • Tonya M.

Don't miss this little gem! The roast pork meal was amazing! Portions are large and my husband and I shared a diner plate. The crowds don't lie and the wait was about 30 minutes for a to go order but so with it!

    (5)

    (5)

  • Steph L.

MUY bien.

One word: Amazing!! Had the scallops in red sauce with 5star spice.. Added a little more harbenero oil which made it even better...

Amazing Food!!!!! Had the West Caribbean Roll and literally speechless!!!!! Only regret is not getting there earlier before the Fire Roasted Corn ran out but it's such a great spot!!!

A must go.

One of the best places we went to eat in key west, we were there for a week and ate out every meal so I feel confident saying that. Good flavors, great prices, food came out quick and tasty. That is all

Awesome food! We stopped here while on vacation and ordered the pork with rice and beans. Perfectly seasoned with a lot of great flavor!

  • Christiana S.

Go get the fire-roasted corn... immediately! There are so many delicious flavors that blend together perfectly with the sweet corn; lime, cilantro, salt and pepper!

OMG, this place is amazing!!!! We spotted this place while exploring the island on scooters and we are so glad we stopped. The press sandwich is outta this world. The Cuban bread is unbelievable. Such a great place to stop!!

Great food for the price! The corn was moist and seasoned well. Had the Caribbean bowl which was more food than I bargained for and you'll have chickens walking around to keep you company while you eat.

Always been a fan since I moved here and they had a different name. The food is over the top amazing, comforting, and delicious! Finally tried the new breakfast menu and the HUGE sandwich is full of goodness it should be called the breakfast kitchen sink. Great spot for locals and tourist must go find it!

Fantastico! Bien!!!

  • May A.

Not too many words. .. speechless during the entire meal. Delicious can't even begin to describe. Best thing I ever ate. Order the corn. As a matter of fact, order 2!

    (5)
  • Ann R.

    (5)

The 5 star reviews are correct. This place delivers every time. Black beans and rice will surprise you how good they are! Beans and rice trio is where it's at! Make sure to squeeZe your limes on that corn!

Favorite place to visit when I'm in key west. Pulled pork sandwich is crazy good. The corn is so good, I tried to duplicate it at home... But failed. Limited hours is my only negative comment.

Not only the best sandwich is Key West this is the best sandwich I've had in my LIFE! You have to check this place out.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat before hitting the water to fish for the day. Staff was kind and greeted me with a smile. Ordered the corn to go along with the pork and rice. Would have liked some kind of sauce on the pork as it was a little dry by itself, but everything else tasted great.

Amazing food. The scallop sandwich was great. Tasted even better on Cuban bread. No one in our group was disappointed.

Incredible. Choose your level of spice, so fresh, great flavor. Eat outdoors! Scallop sandwich was sensational.

I would give them 20 stars I would. Excellent flavor on all four dishes we had...number 14 is a must.

Best chicken sandwich I've had till date!! And the first prawn one was delectable too! No match for their marinade. It's a takeout place.

Amazing! Best breakfast sandwich we've had :) The caramelized onions were delicious! Big enough to share, but tasty enough you don't want to!

Yes you must get the corn don't even think twice! And order something else because it's delicious and you'll miss out if you're traveling through.

  • Mike S.

Amazing food and service !!! They made an extra Mahi sandwich after we screwed up and forgot to tell them about the shellfish allergy at order time. No big deal! Awesome service!

Wow, what a great sandwich. I had the #2 Paseo Press. Also had the corn. Very tasty. Highly recommend.

  • Sandy M.

Went in search of a great Cuban, and stopped here. While the sandwich (Paseo press) was good it was certainly not a Cuban. Should have walked a few more blocks to 5 Brothers...... It was a very good sandwich, but not answering my crave. A lost opportunity.

  • Karl C.

  • RONALD W.

    (5)
  • Chris G.

  • Noe N.

  • Ronald N.

this was probably the best food ive had in awhile. i was looking around while i was in key west and some people referred me Paseo,. and it was delicious. You have to get the fire roasted corn really good but they entrees are even better and well priced for key west. The one thing i didnt like was the hours, but that is no reason they deserve nothing lower than a 5 star. I wish they had one in norfolk.

    (5)
  • Genevieve M.

No 4 star or less reviews? There's a reason. IT'S THAT GOOD. Selective omnivore/ vegetarians still have options! Want grilled corn kissed by angels and mirages of god while shoving a sandwich into your face?! Get your ass here.

  • Geoff C.

Best meal I had in Key West hands down and the cheapest too! The corn is awesome, the #2 and #8 were both amazing me and my girlfriend disagree as to which is better but they both rock. Beans and rice were also good but I will dream about the sandwiches and corn until I come back

The paseo press is my favorite. Great food all the way around!

  • Subhasish R.

    (5)

    (5)
  • Jaime G.

The shrimp in red sauce with rice was delicious, the flavor a truly stood out. The paseo press is quite possibly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had.

As others have already said...WOW...totally worth the trip. Pork sandwich so tend and delicious...and the corn was everything I hoped from the photos! Yum

    (5)

Corn on the cob is awesome! Sandwiches are awesome! Small place with outdoor seating. Food is excellent!!

  • A I.

    (5)
  • Alexis J.

Amazing sandwiches and snacks. Try the Paseo Press and the roasted corn! They may have only been open for a few months, but I think they're here for the long haul.

  • Tracy S.

    (5)
  • Nadia T.

Great food at a great price!! The sandwiches are big enough to share! Be sure to try the fire roasted corn....absolutely amazing!!!!

    (5)
  • Tom t.

Bike Man loves this place, the prawn sandwich "HOT" is all I order! I haven't even tried anything else, I'm stuck in a rut! It is that good. Ya better like onions and these sandwiches are messy, in a good way.

    (5)

    (4)
  • Elizabeth M.

Great place! We had the fire roasted corn, fish in red sauce, and the chicken sandwich. So good-my fav meal in KW!

  • Cymbie L.

    (5)
  • Lindsey F.

The food was phenomenal! Without a doubt the best food I had while visiting Key West. I had the West Caribbean Bowl and I craved it for the rest of the week. Next time I am definitely going to try the corn!

    (5)
  • Austen C.

    (5)
  • Doug C.

  • Laura V.

  • Stephanie R.

  • Heidi D.

Go there!

  • Double L.

  • Jakes O.

The Corn!!!!! We have attempted to duplicate the corn recipe for weeks now that we left Key West. Get the corn!

    (5)
  • Susan H.

Crave! Twice this week I've had the greens with fish on top plus a side of rice and fish with red sauce. Each time I had more than enough left for another meal the next day. BUT, at midnight, the rice and fish call to me from the fridge and it's so HARD to resist. Go there. Now.

    (5)
  • Denise H.

Paseo is now Bien. The food is delicious. I got nervous. I called as last week it was paseo and today it is Bien. The gentleman said they are the same owner they just changed the name!

    (4)

    (4)
  • Matthew P.

Hit this place up. You will not be sorry. Make sure to get the corn. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

    (5)

    (5)

  • Pradip D.

    (5)
  • GB M.

Don't come on your last day because you will want to come back!! Fast, friendly, efficient service AND the food is awesome for a casual spot!!

    (5)
  • Janie L.

    (5)

    (5)
  • Nicole R.

    (1)
  • Ben O.

I have been here several times. I have oly ordered their Carribean Pork sandwich. It is the best pork sandwich I have ever had in my life, and possibly one of the best sandwiches ever. Love this place.

    (5)
  • Cindy S.

If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, Paseo's corn is at the top of my list. Simply a must! Great service, amazing food and so worth the wait, I can't wait to go back to Key West to have this again!

    (5)
  • Frank P.

We learned that the locals like this place and I know why. The food is amazing!!!! Do yourself a favor and have the Paseo Press Sandwich, sooooo freaking good!!!

  • Ashley N.

Damn. Sean: Thank you for coming to KW. I am in love with your red sauce. Pls bring your lovliness to Savannah, GA. We have a huge demand for this food in our creative coastal area!! I'm an interested investor. Laurie d.

I will definitely return!

Amazing hidden gem in Key West! Probably some of the best sandwiches you will find on the island. Fresh ingredients, large portions - love the Paseo Press. Don't pass this unassuming little nugget up! Sit outdoors and soak up the sun while you dine!

The pulled pork sandwich was one of the best sandwiches we've had in our lives. (Not kidding!) Don't miss this sandwich when you visit Key West!
